Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
How can he be worth £20million?

He can't get anywhere near the England team.

If we were offered anything like that sort of money, we would have to take it.

Couldn't agree more, Andy.

I like Creswell, quite a bit in fact, but there's no way he's worth £20 million, and it won't take anything like that much to replace him either.

I like Cresswell, but fuck me, what would be Dicks be worth?

You forgot Ilunga, Downing and Taylor.

Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
I think Cresswell is a good player, made to look a lot better because our list of left backs over the last 5 years have included;

George McCartney
Joey O Brien
Pablo Armero
Razvan Rat
Emanuel Pogatetz
Daniel Potts
Tal Ben Haim
Wayne Bridge
Jonathan Spector

Most of those are 3,4,5/10 players. Cresswell is a solid 7, pushing 8 out of 10. Just because he's the first adequate LB we've had since Ilunga's first season doesn't mean he's irreplaceable!

Just a bit! Absolutely reinforces the belief of any young player that they MUST move to one of those clubs to further their career. Terrible problem within the game.

Fucking annoying ain't it, Scorchio SON?

If he goes to Chelsea or Man City, he'll be instantly included in the first England squad announced, just like when Phil Jones/Chris Smalling were all of a sudden good enough for England after moving to Man U, despite having barely kicked a ball for them.

Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
If it was that easy to sell Cresswell for over £20m and then buy a like for like replacement for around £5m then teams would do it all the time.

It's not though and we found a great player in Cresswell who was able to step up seamlessly to the Premier League. Most of the people mentioning Mings wouldn't have even seen him play. Just heard the rumours.

Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
Cresswell was the wrong side, and lost the battle, which lead to the goal.
Probably unaware the ball was going to him from Adrian to be fair, but still pretty sloppy concentration.
Pumped a fair few long balls up field we lost as well.

Again, not sure if he was instructed to play like that in the first half or not. Thought he played better when he was allowed over the half way line towards the end.

Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
Lots of good young players we could nick from Chelsea as part of this deal.

Bamford, Piazon, Chalobah, Loftus-Cheek, Solanke, Salah,

Plus some decent older pros like Cech, Mikel or Remy.

Could be a great deal.

terry-h

he actually didn't get beaten, cresswell won the ball but lost it in the air.

oh and as we are talking about midgets cresswell and silva are the same height.

Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
On the whole I like Cresswell because he is much better than the left back dross we have had to put up with in recent years.
However defensively there is room for improvement. Being beaten in the air by that short arse Spanish winger on Sunday looked dreadful.

Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
Surely the question of if he goes or stays rests with who the manager will be at the end of this Season??!!

Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
Unless we all work or mates with the same Ipswich fans I am getting the exact same feedback on Mings, blinding player last season, not a patch on that this.

I think Ipswich have a sell on clause with Cresswell, if so the price needs to be inflated just to account for that. Unless a club is about to go broke there is no point selling one of their better players just to pocket £7m or whatever. We got lucky with Cresswell but shouldn't assume another cheapish punt will work out as well. It would be a PL level starting place to fill not a squad player.

Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
Cresswell has done proper defenders job this season... And is rightly getting plaudits for it.

If the rumours are true, then it amazing how these clubs can take note, yet Roy Hodgson clearly has him about 6th/7th in line.

Trevor B 1:13 Thu Apr 23
Re: Chelsea to bid £20m for Cresswell
According to an Ipswich fan I work with Mings has gone off the boil in the second half of the season, reckons he looks like he's more interested in attacking and is neglecting his defensive duties, often getting caught out up field after losing the ball.

I've really only seen him once and wasn't overly impressed. That isn't me saying he is terrible though. I just think people get a bit carried away sometimes.

Most likely his agent getting it out there to get a better contract
